Sharon Muse Johnson is an in-demand speaker with numerous appearances as a "Spotlight" presenter at prestigious professional legal events, including the annual conventions for the Kentucky Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, and the Kentucky Justice Association, as well as numerous local groups.
Sharon Muse Johnson serves as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 14th Judicial Circuit, encompassing Bourbon, Scott, and Woodford Counties. Holding a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Kentucky and a Juris Doctorate from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, she brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to her role. Prior to assuming the position of Commonwealth’s Attorney, Muse Johnson ran a private law firm specializing in Circuit Court matters for nearly two decades. She grew her solo practice to a firm, with offices in both Georgetown and Louisville, focused on handling complex legal issues with a team of dedicated attorneys. Muse Johnson later moved back to solo practice.
In addition to her legal career, Muse Johnson authored the book "Kidnapped by a Client," drawing from her own experience as a crime victim. The book, aimed at helping crime victims navigate trauma recovery, forgiveness, and personal safety, has achieved Amazon Best Seller status three times. Muse Johnson is frequently invited to speak on topics related to personal safety and navigating the criminal justice system as a victim of violent crime. She possesses specialized training in trauma-informed responses and the neurological effects of trauma on the brain.
A recognized authority in her field, Muse Johnson has been a featured speaker at events such as the Kentucky Bar Association along with other state Bar conventions, as well as the Kentucky Justice Association. She initiated the "Own Your Moment" movement, advocating for the rights and empowerment of crime victims.
In her capacity as Commonwealth’s Attorney, Muse Johnson has demonstrated a track record of success. She has prosecuted cold cases involving child victims of sexual abuse, secured landmark jury verdicts in cases of rape, sodomy, burglary, and tampering, including one resulting in six consecutive life sentences for the defendant. Additionally, she obtained a 45-year jury verdict in a case involving fleeing from law enforcement. She has obtained maximum verdicts allowed by law in Attempted Murder, Assault, Child Sex Abuse, and a host of other crimes. Her efforts have also led to successful jury verdicts in stalking cases and the resolution of the highest arson verdict in the circuit. She has never been reversed by the Supreme Court and is passionately endorsed by crime victims.
